Access 2003 (I)
Understand database concepts and terminology in Access 2003. Design and create tables. Enter and manipulate data in tables. Use Access queries to select and analyze information in a table. Create data forms for viewing and inputting data. Create reports that summarize and group data. Perform database maintenance procedures.
Access 2003 (II)
Learn the steps to properly design a simple database.
Create a new database with related tables.
Control data entry by modifying the design of a table to streamline data entry and maintain data integrity.
Find and Retrieve desired data using filters and joins between tables and within a single table.
Create flexible queries to display specified records; allow for user-determined query criteria; and add, update, and delete data with queries.
Enhance the appearance, data entry, and data access capabilities of your forms.
Customize reports to beter organize the displayed information and produce specific print layouts such as mailing labels.
Use Access data in other applications, including Word and Excel.
Acrobat 7 (I)
Access information in PDF documents. Create PDF documents.
Modify PDF Documents. Add PDF Navigation. Work with multiple PDF Documents.
Initiate and participate in a PDF document review.
Dreamweaver 8 (I)
Identify site planning considerations.
Create a new Web. Add text and applying formatting.
Insert text and images, set image properties.
Create and format tables. Add links within a site, and use images as links, and create image maps.
Build a frame-based set of pages. Upload a site to a remote Web server.
Dreamweaver 8 (II)
In this course, you will work with advanced Web site creation features available in Dreamweaver,
including libraries and behaviors. In addition, you will use many of the new features available
within the HTML 4 standard, including style sheets and layers,
and will be able to create complex Web sites that include simple rollovers,
complex navigation bars, and other page elements that provide visual feedback.
Excel 2003 (I) -- Worksheets
Create a spreadsheet to create lists and calculate values. Create formulas. Organize, copy, move, and even colorize worksheet tabs. Use the new task pane to create a new workbook. Use functions to analyze and summarize data. Work with page breaks and set up a worksheet for printing.
Excel 2003 (II) -- Charting and Organizing Data
Create templates, sort and filter data, import and export data, and analyze data. Streamline repetitive tasks and display spreadsheet data in more visually effective ways, using templates, charts, graphics, and formulas.
Excel 2003 (III) -- Advanced Topics
Create macros, collaborate with others,
audit and analyze worksheet data, create PivotTables and PivotCharts,
incorporate multiple data sources, and import and export data.
Automate some common Excel tasks, apply advanced analysis techniques
to more complex data sets, collaborate on worksheets with others, and share
Excel data with other applications.
FileMaker Pro 7 (I)
Access data in an existing database. Locate records and groups of records that meet specific criteria. Create a new database that includes multiple records and multiple layouts. Create database layouts by positioning and formatting fields. Add graphic and text elements to layouts. Create several layouts that can be output to display data for various needs. Create a columnar report layout that includes sub-summary data for specified groups of records.
FileMaker Pro 7 (II)
You have probably been using FileMaker Pro for a while, and may
have created several databases to track information like contacts, inventory,
or other information that can't be adequately manage using a spreadsheet or word processing application.
In addition, you may need to share your databases with other users on a network or even
over the Internet. In this course, you will use FileMaker Pro to create a system of
integrated databases that can manage the information efficiently,
that will make it easy to alter the system to meet changing needs, and that
can be accessed by someone in the same office, or by a customer using a Web browser.
Flash 8 (I)
A website can be made to look more inviting with interactive graphics and animations.
Macromedia Flash 8 can help you create and manipulate a wide variety of objects ranging from
a simple graphic design to a complex animation sequence. In this course,
you will explore the basics of Flash 8, including its tools and features, and create
different types of animations and publish them on the web.
FrontPage 2003 (I)
Identify site-planning considerations.
Create a new web. Add and format text on web pages.

Add links within a site, use images as links. Apply and modify design themes.
Upload (publish) a web.
Illustrator CS2 (I)
This is a sophisticated graphics program capable of creating complex and attractive
illustrations and type effects. Do you need to create logos, advertisements,
and other illustrations? If you have little or no experience with Illustrator,
it can be overwhelming to start creating complex illustrations.
In this course, you'll start by drawing and manipulating simple shapes
to create logos, and combine text and graphics to create advertisements.
InDesign CS2 (I)
You are starting to familiarize yourself with print layout and design
using InDesign, and this course will help you learn about the available
tools and features. In this course, you will create and deliver eye-catching printed documents.
Outlook 2003 (I)
This course covers the basics
of email, attachments, junk mail filtering, and the new color coding.
Improved calendar sharing and viewing multiple calendars simultaneously!
Use the contacts, task lists and sticky notes. Organize and sort information in the new window
and set your own preferences.
Outlook 2003 (II)
This course is for the experienced Outlook user who is ready to customize Outlook; personalize, organize, save and archive mail; create personal folders; organize Outlook items, set Calendar and Message options; work with Contacts (forward, create vCard, export, perform mail merge, and link items to a Contact).
Outlook 2003 (III)
This course builds on intermediate email and calendaring skills, ,provides the skills needed to communicate in real time with other users, personalize mail, organize items, share and link contacts, create forms, and work offline and remotely.
Photoshop CS2 (I)
Paint and retouch images. Enhance image lighting and contrast.
Work with layers and selections. Understand and set image size and resolution.
PowerPoint 2003 (I)
Create a presentation. Organize slides and add text in the new Outline and Sort pane without leaving the slide view! Create your own art. Use the slide master to insert page numbers and logos on every slide. Use the new Task Pane to insert a new slide, change a slide layout, and add slide transitions.
PowerPoint 2003 (II)
Enhance your presentations with features that will transform
basic presentations into those with a powerful means of communication.
Gain the skills necessary to use design templates, organizational charts, special effects,
Web presentations, collaboration functionality, and advanced presentation delivery
techniques to draw, animate, and format presentations.
Project 2003 (I)
Create a project plan. Learn the basic project management concepts for working in Microsoft Project.
Control Project to create a schedule that accurately updates as you change the parameters.
Create summary and standard tasks and assign resources.
Set task types and constraints. Work with project views, tables and reports.
Visio 2003 (I)
Create diagrams, maps, flowcharts and organization charts the easy way!
Use stencils to add shapes to a drawing. Adjust and control shape sizes, positions and colors.
Align and Group shapes. Even create a shape to add to a new custom stencil.
Create a background and work with layers.
Word 2003 (I)
Create a basic document; edit documents by locating and modifying text; format text; format paragraphs; use Word tools to make your documents more accurate; add tables to a document; add graphic elements to a document; control a document's page setup and its overall appearance.
Word 2003 (Advanced Topics)
Build on your Word
skills and learn to create consistent results (styles and formatting,
customizing Autotext and AutoComplete, columns, a drawing window, control graphics);
work with complex documents (outline view and document structure, document map, master and subdocuments,
document cross-referencing, bookmarks, tables of contents); and collaborate, distribute and control
document versions (mail merge, labels and envelopes, document routing, tracking changes
and document review, comparing and merging documents, using the form template, and creating web pages).

training@caltech.edu.
- IMSS must receive your cancellation request at least four business days prior to the course date.
- If you are unable to cancel your enrollment, you can send a substitute and IMSS can adjust the account that will be billed.
- If you (or a replacement) fail to attend, the course fee will be charged to your account.
- IMSS reserves the right to cancel any class at any time. If the class is cancelled, no charges will apply.
